Texas May 2019 - Day 6

Well, Lola guilted me into blogging today.

The morning started as per usual - tiny (heavy) footsteps overhead at 7:15 this morning followed by two sets of feet rapidly running down the stairs and back and forth on the main floor with a few door openings to make sure that AA and Lola didn't mysteriously disappear in the middle of the night.  They did not and got up shortly after 8.

Thursday mornings are swimming lessons at 9:30.  Everyone was up and about between 8 and 8:30, frantically packing bags and eventually loading the car so we could all start the roadtrip after swimming lessons.

We made it to lessons right on time without a minute to spare.  The kids practiced their "front crawl" and back turnovers showing that they are becoming very good swimmers.  Lola said maybe she should jump in and get some lessons.

After swimming we made the 1.5 hrs drive to Waco for lunch.  We stopped at Magnolia Market which has been made famous by HGTV's Chip and Joanne Gaines who have redeveloped the area into a nice open air space with several food trucks and home made crafts.

Lunch was delicious and required a refill of our Alabama Sweet Tea mason jars before starting the 2 hrs drive to Dallas.

We were a little [ambitious] that the twinkies would have a nap.  Naturally they didn't want to nap and wanted to talk, play with their stuffed animals, play on their ipads (not allowed during this leg until after they napped - that bribe didn't work) and listen to music.  Eventually, with 20 mins to go, B fell asleep and T had a quick cat nap that lasted a grand total of 6 mins.

MBMell finally got to eat her cupcake from the Bakery
We decided to extend the stay in the car and went to the Tesla Supercharger which was 10 mins away from the hotel to get a quick battery boost.  Then, after T decided to give B a "foot massage" (aka - wake her up), we went to the hotel.  It was touch and go whether the ladies would make it to the hotel before peeing themselves.  They made it, but just barely.

Once at the hotel, we quickly got changed and went to the water park.  The kids really enjoyed all of the splash areas, slides and pools.  And the adults did too.  AA's favourite was the family raft slide where B, MBMell, Lola and AA all got into a tube and went down the slide - we had a lot of momentum built up and swung pretty high up on the sides of the slide.  B loved it!

After experiencing pretty much all that we could today at the water park, we went back to the room for baths / showers and got ready to go for supper.  Supper was at the hotel and was really quick, which was good because T (who didn't nap) was fighting off some illness all day and was quite cold and then soon DD wasn't quite feeling himself and cut dinner short after his salad and first helping of BBQ.  The two of them went back to the hotel room earlier while the rest waited another 30+ mins for B to finish her apple slices and grilled cheese.

Now, back at the room we are trying to figure out our plan for tomorrow.  We will see how DD and T feel tomorrow before making final plans.  However, the ladies do want to try and go to Yoga with B at 9:15 tomorrow morning.  Hopefully we can eat breakfast in a reasonable amount of time.
