Home we go...good bye whistler

Well we had a great day yesterday.
Watched Canadian women win gold in curling and hockey, went tubing at the whistler blackcomb, watched the fire and ice show at the whistler blackcomb base and then went out for a beautiful dinner at The Grill with wonderful friends!

They catered to my dietary needs:) I got an appetizer shooter, gluten/dairy/corn free bun, wonderful steak potatoes and carrots, baked apple for dessert, with a bonus of "pure" cotton candy:)

Today we are bittersweet, and on our way home. Listening to the hockey game on the radio in the car!
It is a beautiful sunny today today:)
Driving on sea to sky highway.

Hopefully spring comes fast when we get home, it has been nice and warm here:)

Snowy Whistler

It has sure been a winter wonderland that past couple of days in Whistler.

Yesterday (Monday) we had a great time snowmobiling.  We meet at Whistler village to be shuttled to Callaghan, where we got suited up, picked our sleds and headed out on the trail with our guide.  It was so much fun:). Me being the most nervous requested being at the front of the line closest to the guide, Nick.  We headed out on the trail, where the first sharp turn I forgot to lean, as well as forgot to take my thumb off the accelerator and got myself into some deep snow.  I could drive out, unlike the others in the group, getting stuck and needing to be rescued.
At the snowmobiling site.

We headed out on a lake where he let us go free.  Jamie and I were done in a few minutes as visibility was low and couldn't really see where you were going.  The boys had a great time, both Adam and Sean getting stuck on the sides of the lake in large snow banks.  After the lake we headed up the mountain. Couldn't go all the way like normal because of avalanche warnings, but made it pretty high.  The visibility got worse as we went up, but there was so much fresh powder.
Jamie enjoying the ride!
Eric and Jamie on the lake.
Adam and the guide helping Sean get out from being stuck.

The girls:)

My least favorite part was going over the edge of the mountain (on a trail) to "cut" to the bottom without having to do the switch back.  Breaking all the way down and feeling unsure of myself, but made it both times :) we got a ride back to whistler and then walked all the way back up the hill to our condo.  The boys had a lot of fun playing with the snow all the way back up.
The boys...

Today (Tuesday) we had a relaxing day.  Slept in, ate breakfast of bacon and eggs and hash browns and the headed into the village to walk around and do some shopping. Walked around the villages, took photos and ate some food.
It snowed a lot today, looks like over a foot!

It's snowy...

We had a good day! Came back to the condo to play a game of Ticket to Ride, where Adam and I won:) now time for some hot tub and supper.  Hope all is well back home!

Wintery Whistler

Day 2 of skiing / snowboarding
By: Adam

Today was a great day for skiing. Over a foot of snow fell last night.

The day started early-ish. We were at the hill by 830 but Eric and Gwen went back to the condo to get shoes for those who had to return rentals after skiing today. I dropped Jamie off at ski camp but apparently not the right location. I then waiting with David (Eric's dad), Diana (his sister) and Sean in the  line for the gondola up whistler mountain.  An hour later, we were up.

And then we waited... For another 30 mins for Eric and Gwen to show up. That was ok, got to watch some of the Can vs Fin hockey game plus another cup of coffee.  From there, we were ready for the slopes.

Gwen and Eric in the gondola

David took us to what we thought was a green run. Well, it wasn't... It was pretty much straight down. We made it to the first green run so all was good. From there, we made it down to the Red Express and rode up for lunch.

After lunch, we took another 3 runs. Sure, might not sound like much but here are the stats from the day:

After, we were toast. Well, at least I was. My legs were tired.  We went back to Merlin's for drinks and nachos. The order of nachos was MASSIVE.

From there, we met our chauffeur at the Fairmont and loaded up. I then waited with David for the rest of the group to drop off their rentals. Once loaded up it took us an hour to get back to the condo. Traffic was rediculous. It didn't help that the traffic was slow due to the snow that continued to fall all day.   In fact, the highway is currently closed to Vancouver.

Waiting in traffic

Maybe that is why we couldn't get the van up the hill to the condo... Instead, we hiked up, Adam carrying two snow boards and David parked the van back in town.  Got my work out for the day I guess you could say.

Fire works from the Fire and Ice show in whistler, as viewed from the condo as we were all too tired to walk down.

Tomorrow should be an easier going day.  Snowmobiling in the morning and that is it.  Good thing too, my legs can use a rest.

I'll see what videos I can upload to YouTube for my entourage of followers ;)

Eric's 30th birthday Whistler Adventure - Day 1 & 2

Well we made it to BC yesterday. The flight was super early in the morning. We met the rest of the party at the airport at 5:00am.  Happy Valentines... But happy to leave -30 temperatures.

Winnipeg from the window of the airplane.

The group of 8 of us made it on the plane.  Eric and Jamie sitting in front of us, Barb and David to the side (Eric's parents), Diana (Eric's sister) way in the front of us, and Sean (a friend) way in the back of the plane.  See some photos below of our flight.

Adam and I sporting our shirts.

We had an interesting landing. For the first time we aboarted the landing.  Made another loop around and finally landed.  We went to go get our rental vehicles.  Both ended up with mini vans.  Time for some lunch!

We went to Granville Island and walked around enjoying the fresh air and atmosphere.
Eating breakfast.

Eric waiting for his wife to arrive.

We then headed to Whistler.
Lions Gate Bridge

We were travelling with the windows down, so I decided to take a picture of the other group following us:)

Relaxing in the condo in Whistler!

I was an early night for us,  Lola was sleeping by 9:00pm.

Day 2 started with Jamie being dropped off at the woman's ski camp and then Eric, Sean, Adam and I went to the hill.
We were having a great day until Eric lost his ski in the powder.  We searched for 1 hour and called ski patrol to see if they could help us.  Finally Adam saved the day and found it about 20 ft from where he got stuck in the snow!

Here are the boys searching for the ski

And me digging.

After lunch on Whistler we headed in the peak to peak gondola to head over to Blackcomb where Jamie was skiing.
Eric and Sean on the Gondola

Adam and I in the gondola

We had a good day of skiing, but it was sure snowing and windy at the top. At one point it was so windy I think I was actually snowboarding backwards.

After skiing we headed into the hot tub at our condo to try and get some muscle relief.

Until tomorrow, we will be out on the slopes again.

Ps. Adam did take some go pro videos:)

Arizona Adam Works on project in Winterpeg

So this weekend, Adam had the pleasure of working on the Arizona Airplane project from Winterpeg.
He was supposed to get 2 boxes delivered to our house near supper time, but while at hockey he was notified that they already tried to deliver.

He needed these packages to get the materials into the chamber to start testing Monday. So he gets on the phone with FedEx and some how arranges to go meet the fedex guy in a parking lot downtown.

Lola being concerned about this arrangement got off the phone with her mother and drove him to main and broadway to meet the fedex guy.

Getting the packages in the parking lot.

Then we headed to Adams office to take the packages. Wish I knew what I had gotten myself into. 2 boxes full of airplane material same pieces all needed to be taken apart, labeled and placed in the controlled chamber.  The numbers went from 1 all the way to 88 or something like that, each number having 3-6 pieces.  That was a lot of work.

Here is what the samples looked like once we were finished.

After we finished of course Lola had to take a couple selfie:)

The weekend was full of scotties curling and Olympics watching:) go canada go!!!

Stay warm out there!
