San Diego 2019 - Day 2

Today was an early start - a quick breakfast at 7:30 in order to get to the Disneyland California Adventures for a full day at the park.

The kids still didn't know what the surprise was today, even as we were waiting in line at the Disney parking garage.  They kept asking for hints, we kept giving them "Disney" hints but they couldn't figure it out.

Once in the park, we went on Goofy's Flying School rollercoaster.  T didn't want to do it so Lola, AA and B went on the ride themselves.  It was a blast.

Next was Grizzly River Run, very similar to Kali River Rapids at DW.  Lola and B didn't get soaked this time but B did get wet.

Some stops for pictures with some characters and exploring Radiator Springs.  We had lunch at Flo's V8 Cafe and then continued on with more rides in Cars Land before going to see Elsa and Olaf.

Next, we tried to get into line at the Frozen show, but the 3pm show was cancelled so we decided to go to Redwood Creek Challenge Trail where the twinkies could blow off some energy from their Mickey Bars and then to the Disney Junior Dance Party.

Then, Lola and AA went on the Incredicoaster while MBM and kids went on the carousel on Pixar Pier.  It was a rush to get back to the Radiator Springs ride and a long line before we had to hurry to our restaurant for supper, in Downtown Disney.

After everyone's bellies were full (B needed some ice cream to fill the remaining voids), we went back to the park where we had unsuccessful attempts to get on the Soarin' ride (line too long) then tried to get on the Monster's Inc ride only to find out it was closed for mechanical issues.  We decided to then go back to Pixar Pier and get in line for Toy Story Mania.  We were a little disappointed to find out that the Disneyland app wasn't correct and our 55 mins "wait" was actually 80 mins.  We survived and enjoyed the ride.

Then, it was time to call it a night and make our way back to the parking garage and onwards to our hotel for a well deserved rest.

San Diego 2019 - Day 1

We met MBMell, and B and T in San Diego Airport this afternoon to start our vacation in the San Diego area.

AA and Lola had a connecting flight through Calgary. We left early in the morning, and arrived in San Diego at about the same time as the others direct flight. Lola headed to Terminal 1 to help carry all the luggage in order to get to the rental car shuttle.  AA waited for the luggage which took a while as the luggage got stuck. Everyone was happy to be reunited!

All the luggage!

We got our van (Toyota) and headed for some lunch.  McDonalds it is:)  We sat outside, but it was pretty hot.  Lola thinks she got a little sun burn.  It only took 3 tries to get the Big Mac without cheese and a bun.

We then headed on our Journey to Anaheim.  The kids don't know what is happening the next 3 days.  The drive was about 1.5 hours, with some slow parts because of the LGPA tournament going on.  AA successfully made it to the hotel.  T said, this sure looks like a Disney Hotel with all the disney stuff on the wall of the hallway and a big statue of Mickey Mouse, but they still aren't sure what the surprise is.

We headed to the pool where the kids swam for about 45 minutes.  They are getting very good at jumping in, turning around and swimming back to the wall.  They also had a great time trying to touch the bottom of the pool as well as just swimming.  I think they can swim better than i can, good thing the adults could touch the bottom of the pool in most spots. (sorry no photos, as we didn't bring our water proof camera).

We cleaned up and headed to our dinner reservation at Market Broiler.  It was mostly seafood, and we all got fish.  Dinner was really good, Lola developed a head ache so didn't eat her entire meal, but we all had a great experience.  The kids were good that they even got ice cream!

Back to the hotel, to catch up, get the kids to bed, and prepare for tomorrow.  Time for bed.

Lola.
