Texas May 2019 - Day 11

This morning the kids slept in... their internal clocks just wanted to be sleeping.  Lola woke the house up as she was told before bed time that it was mandatory that she comes to school drop off with daddy.  So she set her alarm and was up and ready before anyone else in the house.  The kids did really well getting to school, no tears, no fights and just enjoyment! Lola even did B's hair :).  Hugs good bye and off to the indoor room as it was pouring rain in the morning.

We got back to the house, at breakfast, and DD went off to work while it rained outside.  Lola, AA and MBMell tried to finish up some tasks that were on the "list" of to do.  Lets get the disney wall up, even if we don't have all the photos yet.  but we knew how to measure for all the nails, so when they arrive MBMell would be able to just put them up.

MBMell put together the shadow boxes and AA was a very good helper! We put up half the wall, then used the same photos to do the other half in preparation for the photos that were supposed to arrive at 1:00-1:30 this afternoon.

Then Lola made lunch, soup and left over Rudy's.  We enjoyed our last meal together, and then headed off to the Tesla Service center to get the new tire and return the loaner tire.  They then told us it would take 2 hours for the alignment.  We weren't about to wait that long, so we lyfted back to the house.  we were happy that the UPS guy dropped off the photos, but 2 were missing.  We hung them up, ate some ice cream and then the phone rang.  (we are so happy with how the wall turned out!)

in the lyft

It was Tesla, the car was ready and they didn't think an alignment was necessary.  So MBMell and Lola headed back in a lyft while AA stayed at home.

Didn't take long and we were back at the house.  Picked up AA and headed to pick up the kids from school before heading to the airport.  The kids were so surprised that Lola was picking them up, as they were expecting MBMell to pick them up after the airport drop off, but it didn't work out with the car service, so we changed the order.

We got dropped off, and said our good byes.  T and B made sure to also get a hug good bye from AA.

The flights were pretty standard.  we at at the airport and got on our flight. A little turbulence, but we did well.  On our decent into Winnipeg, Lola knew it would be close to finishing her movie.... i think they shut off the entertainment with about 2 minutes left.... if only the announcements during the flight were a little more punctual.  Hopefully she can find it somewhere to be able to watch the end.

Snack to make it home, McDonalds was the only thing open.

We made it home. we had a great time.... now back to reality of sleep and work.

Till next time, Lola.

Texas May 2019 - Day 10

This morning we packed up our stuff and headed down for our last "character" meal at Great Wolf Lodge.  The kids got to take a photo just with Oliver the Raccoon, which they were pretty excited about.  We said goodbye to story time, to the waterpark, and got our wrist bands cut off.  We had a great time!  The kids helped take the stuff to the car and bring the carts back empty.

We headed to Perot Museum of Science and Nature.  The museum had a lot of cool interactive things, but there were too many school aged kids to really enjoy it.  They were loud and not very respectful.  There was 4 levels, with Dinosaur Fossils, animals in Texas, The human body, Energy and resources, science and robotics, and the kids favourite, the children's museum.  They had a great time playing with all the interactive things in this relatively smaller space compared to the museum but all young kids (no school aged kids!).

We then walked to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch.  We almost had to find a different place, as we couldn't find anyone to help us get seated, and then when the hostest finally came, she ended up taking our drink order as well as helping out.  The kids loved the guitar plates, and they ate a good lunch!  Especially B, once she got Lola's dipping sauce!

We then walked back to the car and headed towards Waco Supercharger.  But first we had to take photos of the kids with the huge owls we walked past at hooters.

The kids slept (thankfully) and we made it with only one close call (car changed lanes, and D found out the breaks really work in the Tesla).  MBMell called Pottery Barn to try and figure out the delivery of missing pieces of their bed frame which they have been waiting for since early February.

At the supercharger, the adults and kids refuelled with drinks and snacks, while the Tesla charged for about 30ish minutes.  This was enough to get us home.  The kids got iPad time on the almost 2 hour drive back to Austin, MBMell had a nap when she started to not feel so good, and we had a pit stop at McDonalds for an emergency Potty break.

We went straight to Rudy's for some BBQ for supper, where Lola and the kids were hungry, while the other 3 adults just ate because they knew they should. The food did not disappoint and the kids were excited for the creamed corn.

Back at the house, the kids helped unpack, and Lola and them played a game, "try and find all the cats, and then try and find all the stuffed dogs".  It was only 8 minutes of the game, and we had a great time.  Headed to the bath time, we listened to an autobook (Moana), and we got ready for bed.  Long hugs, and discussion about how Lola and AA would be leaving tomorrow and a great bedtime was completed.

Lola and MBMell sorted the dirty laundry, cleaned up the suitcases/bags and we made a plan for tomorrow. Once all the tasks were completed, AA, DD and Lola played Overcooked 2 on the switch.  This game is a great cooperative game where you try to prepare, cook and successfully deliver meals.

Time for bed, as lola has to be up early to take B and T to school (requested by B) with DD, and then we have a few tasks in the house, and need to go get the Telsa tire exchanged tomorrow.  Then off to the airport.

Hope everyone had a great long weekend in Canada, and hopefully we have a chance to blog tomorrow at the airport.

Lola.
