Garbage goals

Well garbage goals won the game tonight sporting their new jerseys....

AA did end up in the penalty box but not sure why as I spent the whole game talking on the phone with my mom.

That's him with the 10 on his back.

Trains, trophies, and tricks at pelican lake

Well our weekend was great, besides the horrible weather that rolled in last night.  The snow and high winds didnt stop us from enjoying our evening.

Here are some photos of the snow.

Here are the highlights;
- we watched the Canadian Men's hockey team win the gold medal
- got Phyllis addicted to ticket to ride

- found out Murray (The score keeper) is hard to make him pick up tricks in a game of hearts.  Also during the many games of hearts, a new nick name of AJ was given to Adam, see if it sticks.

- saw the local Portage Terriers win the RBC cup! (Nice that it was televised)

We also began another puzzle, but didn't get the sky done, but not to worry that puzzle came home with me to finish....

AA also brought home a nice surprise from Montreal and we all got to enjoy some Swartz's Smoked Meat for lunch today.

On our way home, we experienced muddy roads, snow drifts in the ditches, to lakes in the farmers fields.  Hopefully the warm weather comes and stays for a while.

Snow in the ditch near the cabin on the highway.

Field by Fannystelle.

Almost home,

Puzzle success

Well the 500 piece puzzle is complete....

Just in time to watch hockey!

The wind is sure blowing in...

We had an excellent day yesterday at the cabin on pelican lake, despite the not so ideal weather.

AA did pull out to do some work for about half an hour but other than that we ate, watched sports, played games, and worked on a puzzle.

Lola and AA introduced Phyllis and Murray, Ticket to Ride, which was a success, Phyllis can't wait to play again today.  It was a lot of fun, especially because Lola won both games;). After that at we reintroduced ourselves to the game of hearts and had a great time, although no one was successful at "shooting the moon".

We are enjoying watching the bronze medal game for th IIHF WM, but had to hook up the laptop again, as it is only on TSN 2,3,4,5, and for some reason this receiver only gets TSN1...  We are all cheering for Czech, as they are the home team, but doesn't look promising, although there is still 16 minutes left of the game.

Here is a photo of me waiting for the third period to start.  I took a shower this morning, so feeling nice and clean:)

Hair is pretty curly today because of the hard water, but also how humid and rainy it is outside.  Not planning on spending much time out there today.

The wind is just a blowing.

Well almost time for breakfast, then some more puzzling and game playing.  Oh and don't forget about cheering for team canada this afternoon.

We are team canada super fans!!!

Happy Sunday, it is always a good feeling when there is still another day left to relax!

Go Canada go, Lola

Hockey at the lake....

Well the night was good.  We made it to the lake with 2 excited hosts we had made it, only really to get the TV working. They tried for hours to get that satilite on the screen and just couldn't get it to work. Lola stepped behind the TV, looked at the cables, they all seemed to be plugged properly into the TV and receiver.... "The green light comes on sometimes..." Lola realizes the problem.... Better check the power source... Foila TV works!

We enjoyed the peacefulness of the evening, chatting and chatching up, then off to bed about midnight.

Woke up this morning in hopes to watch the IIHF semi final, which was supposed to be on at 8:15.  I  rolled out of bed at 8:30, come out to see the crew watching soccer highlights.

I questioned it and then research was done.... Looked closer in the guide to find out it was not on TSN 1... And for some reason their reciever doesnt get any other tsn... It says it is they aren't subscribed ... That is weird... Since we can't watch it on the satilite, the visitors have a solution.... Good thing Lola grabbed the laptop when she went back to get her pills....
And we have the hockey game, missed the first period, but wow it is much more clear than the low def satilite;)

I was expecting to wake up to a rainy and cold day, but to my surprise the sun was peaking out of the clouds and the bugs were out in full force.

18 degrees and took a moment in the bugs to take a selfie.

Happy Saturday, GO CANADA GO!

Now to watch the 3rd period, and maybe get out of my PJ's and into my sweat pants

Summer has began

Well AA made it home right on time, and Lola had quite the adventure to go pick him up from the airport.
It started with her leaving about 5 minutes later than planned from work maybe she should have left more like 15 minutes earlier. Too many people driving at 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon of the long weekend. Encountered a stalled car on kenaston just north of kenaston common, stalled semi truck just south of tuxedo, and lane closures on century, and Wellington. AA was patiently waiting for Lola to arrive. He must not have been there too long as he hadn't tried to call the passat yet.

After the reuniting, headed to put diesel into the passat to ensure we could make it back and forth to Ninette. Lola had used a bit of the fuel driving it back and forth to work!

Packed up, ate supper and then headed on the road, making sure to stop at tims on the way.

We got to about Costco on McGillivary when Lola realized she didn't have enough pills for her misbehaving arm in her purse. AA turned around to go home to get more. He wasn't the happiest but knew Lola wouldn't make it all weekend without them.
Got enough for the weekend now!

So for the weekend... Off to Pelican Lake for a bit R &R. Oh but wait, AA brought his work laptop along with him...

On the way of course a pee break for Lola and an ice cream for AA at the famous drive in in Threherne!

Lola brought 2 puzzles and yoga pants to be lazy all weekend. Oh and some food!!!

We are getting ready to spend some time with Murray by listening to one of his favourite stations !

Hope the weather is cooperative to anyone who was planning on being outside.

Later, Lola

Loving cars that start with V

So today I have a new found appreciation for a different car other than a VW.

I am driving an S80, a baseline $50k car. Things I like:
- comfy seats
- harmonkardon stereo system
- nice blind spot indicator lights
- good backup camera that shows where you are in the lines with superimposed lines on the video
- auto star feature that turns the engine off when stopped at a light. Although it took me a while to figure out why the car always jerked when I started from a red light...
- intelligent cruise control that automatically slows down (and breaks) when you approach vehicles ahead of you. Found this out intentionally and played with the car spacing adjustment buttons
- turning headlights

Straight on

Turning

This is a pretty slick car.

Travelling man

Sometimes travelling has its perks. Like today - a free upgrade rental car because the guy knows me.

Not bad, I have never driven a Volvo but it is very nice.

Not much to really blog about today. I'm looking forward to the long weekend and not working for three days. Well, not working on work but working on getting M and P's cabin up and running for the season. That and doing some puzzles that Lola is excited to start.

And sleep...
