Lola In Texas again - Austin Day 10

Well Lola made it home to the land of snow and ice, and it is cold, and it looks like more snow is on the way. DD was nice to get up at 4am to drive Lola to the airport.

Just made it with the bag weight limit.

Flights were uneventful and so tired that both flights were spent sleeping!  It was raining in Austin, and super fogging in Minneapolis.  Clear skies in Winnipeg, meaning it was cold.

Lola was so quick going customs, getting her bag and getting to the door, AA had a plan to come in, parking and made a sign, but was too slow that Lola told him to drive out of the parkade and just come get her at arrivals with her jacket!

What a great 10 days Lola had!  Happy to help, eat lots of ice cream, and so many laughs and stories with the kids!

Oh and the favourite hanging project she forgot to take a photo of  (got from MBMell).

Arriving back at my place, it is cold, and my house seems so tiny (half the size of the house i have been living in for 9 days).

Lola in Texas Again - Austin day 9

Well another bitter sweet day, where everyone knew that Lola and Brown Puppies were going to be gone the next morning.(middle of the night).

We tried to do all tasks today that we could.

The day started with breakfast waffles of course.  And then the kids really wanted to get rid of the 3 boxes in the toy room that were left.  One of them was labeled was very deceiving and didn't know that they were toys that MBMell was hiding from them (bring them out when they need new things).  These penguins, that T had never seen before became a big deal all day.  He was mad that they were set for the sensory bin...and we heard about it all day.

So we sorted books, so that we could put some in the reading nook in the den and then the others stay in the play room. B was a great help knowing what shelf they were on before the move, and placing them back where they belonged.  DD hung up the tv in the den.

For lunch today we had egg salad sandwiches.  The kids helped "boil" the eggs in the instapot.  T cracked one egg by accident, Lola was pretty sure that the egg would survive and we only had 8 eggs for the 5 of us, so we had a little experiment.  And Lola was right, it boiled and didn't explode during the process!

While the eggs cooked and cooled, Lola and MBMell built B's bed, and hung up the growth charts (as the kids are turning 4 in less than 20 days).  I wanted MBMell to be able to measure the kids close to their birthday.

After that we made lunch as a team effort, the kids enjoyed peeling and smashing the eggs.  They also added the green onion and mixed in the mayo.  They spread it on their croissant, and were so excited to help out!  It was really good.

This was our first meal at the table with Daddy!

Then it was nap time and Lola was back on the mop!  Wanted to clean the workout room so that we could try and move the treadmill into that room before there were 2 less arms and 2 less muscles.

It was hanging day too.  We hung 3 book shelves in the play room and starting planing where to put all the other hanging things.

Ice Cream break.

Once the kids woke up from nap, they played very well for 20 minutes until it was time to wake up daddy from their nap to get new shoes.  Lola also did some mnding. DD was in a lot of pain starting at his feet, so we sent him to buy 2 new pairs of shoes.  And please take the kids, so that we can get more things hung.

And away we went... oh we also made supper!

After supper the kids watched a cool sloth video that we watched the day before (to test out the tv).  Some iPad so we could continue to work.

Kids used their new bathroom to brush teeth, hair and potty this evening.  Once in bed we successfully moved the treadmill into the work out room.  It was very heavy, and the kids woke up when we tried to move it... DD was not the quietest...plus it was very heavy and awkward, but MBMell was very happy to have it in her space!

MBMell and DD have a coworkers wedding tomorrow, so we had one last necessary task, find some dress clothes.  And while you are looking mine as well hang them in the master closet.  So away we went.  In the process we found a box that was labeled Master, but it was really the spare closet.  Very disappointed to find that box in the 11th hour.  The contractors aren't quite done the master bath yet, but i got a few shots to show!

So at the end of day 9 we had ice cream.... we did very well, with approximately 25 boxes left with about 17 of those being craft room boxes, we MBMell knew she could tackle on School days on her own (doesn't need to function). Tasks We didn't get to complete, the gallery wall in the dining room and one other but I can't think of it right now.

There are 2 rooms that still need furniture, living room and master bedroom.

All in all I think we did an awesome job.  We didn't sleep as much as we likely should have, and i have a lot of bruises to show how hard we worked.  My desk hands are sure feeling all this physical work i did.

Time to get home to see AA.

Airport was early this morning (leaving at 4am), DD was nice to drive me to the airport.  A juiceland drink to hopefully me fill my tummy for the ride and time to blog.

Till next time!

Lola in Texas again - Austin Day 8

End of the work week and it was a great day.  This is the longest Lola has ever been in Texas I think.  Also I have been here the same amount of times as Hawaii.... looks like we might need to change that statistic (but Austin might surpass that this year)

Kids got up, we ate breakfast and then headed outside in the backyard.  We had a great time. I was trying to get a nice photo of the kids, but didn't turn out that way.  Then they started playing with the wagon, B pulling T (buckled in), T starts shouting "Hawaiian rollercoaster Ride" and then he tips over.  They really had a great time.  It was nice to sit outside in the 17 degree C weather as well as kick the ball around a little.

Lola made lunch while the kids played in the playroom (very nicely), quiche and strawberries and yogurt.  It was good.

Nap time was next.  While the kids were in their rooms not sleeping for a while but very quite, MBMell had to go run an errand to get the faucet that was being replaced.  The kids finally fell asleep after she got back, and had a great nap.   During this time Lola cleaned out the fridge and freezer (DD placed all the food in their from the other house, so it needed to be sorted and checked for expiry.  Once MBMell got back, they mounted furniture in the den area, and hung up the chalk board.  They also built the second leaning shelf and mounted them.

After kids woke up, they had some ipad time and we put up the new curtain rod for T.  We had to get to yardhouse so we could finally have a meeting with DD.  We got the kids ready and out the door we went.  DD actually beat us there.

We had a great meal, and the kids even got ice cream.

Once back at the house, we put the kids to bed, and then ate ice cream. Oh don't forget about the fridge tutorial i had to give DD, about where things were and how to put things away :)

Up next, DD really wanted to try out his new 65" QLED 4KHDR tv he purchased last weekend.  So into the Guest Suite it goes, as there are no couches in the current living room. It was quite the process and you are not allowed to touch the screen.  The screen is thinner than our cellphones, it is crazy.  We watched some 4K tv before setting up the Playstation Pro. Now i am blogging, MBMell is sleeping and DD is still trying to set up all the stuff.  He is pretty excited, but the picture is amazing.  And did you know that Sloths can swim?  Planet Earth 2 showed us... it was so cool!

Oh yeah and we ate ice cream!

Tomorrow is my last day before time to go home.  it is bitter sweet, and hopefully I make it home as Delta sent me a message saying that there may be delays as weather is coming through the "area" i am flying through.

We have a long list again to get through tomorrow, wish us luck, but we are feeling very good about the progress we have made this week! Oh and the steps this week for me are amazing... usually don't beat War but that much.  102,946 steps in 5 days, no wonder my feet are a little sore....

Hopefully DD can take car of the kids tomorrow so we can get lots of work done :)

Night, Lola.
