BNAG Explores Newfoundland - Day 7

Today was an earlier start than yesterday as we wanted to get in a hike before the temperature got too warm outside.  We had breakfast in the hotel (still no boiled eggs but at least Lola got some breakfast potatoes) and were on our way by 8:45 to get some Tim's and then hit the Trans Canada Highway.

We arrived at our first stop at Terra Nova National Park at around 9:30 for a short 15 mins hike on the Heritage Trail and then onto the next hike to Blue Hill Pond.

The first hike went off without any issues.  The second hike ended early for B as his shoe decided to pack it in shortly into the trek.  It was probably for the better as the "trail" wasn't very passable in some sections and the remaining hikers got their feet wet (except Lola who had fancy hiking shoes that were more water proof than sneakers).

Eventually we made our way to the Pond and were not disappointed:

The return trek was equally challenging and there were only two times when N almost went for a mud bath - good thing the nearby trees where well rooted.

Back at the Visitor's Centre, we found B on the dock making some friends, hit up the gift shop and then started the 45 mins drive to lunch in Clarenville.

Wet Feet

Wet and dry feet (well maybe wet due to sweat)

Lunch was delicious - Lola had another stir fry but this time with shrimp, AA had a club sandwich, N had soup and a salad and B had seafood chowder which was quite filling from the looks of it:

The 2 hrs drive from Clarenville to St. John's went by relatively quickly.  The scenery was quite similar to the previous drive through the mainland of Newfoundland - lots of trees, hills and lakes/bays.

Lola was pretty excited about this sign

We arrived at the house that we have rented for the next few days and unloaded.  We then went to the grocery store for some breakfast items, lunch for tomorrow and of course more beer.

Our home away from home for the next 4 nights

After unpacking the food, we went back downtown for supper at St. John's Fish Exchange.  AA probably had the best meal (lobster mac and cheese), at least that is what he claims.  Lola had grilled salmon while B and N both had fish and chips.

After supper, the crew took a walk down along St. John's harbour to see the boats in dock:

Then, it was a quick stop at the Green Sleeve Pub on George St for a drink (or in B's case, two) and to take in the live music.

Now, we are back at the house watching "Twins" on TV - all of us are thinking how bad this movie is and are not surprised by the $16 million budget to produce...
