BANG Explores Newfoundland - Day 8

It's wedding day!  The whole reason we are on this trip as B and N were invited to a wedding for their neighbours daughter who came out this way for work, fell in love and is getting married.  So today was a little less busy than most days so far.  We got up ate breakfast at the house and headed to Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America.  The drive was short about 20 minutes up a winding hill out of the city.

Once we got there, we walked around the trail, and to our surprise, whales!  We spent more time there than expected as we got to see many whales swimming, blowing and showing their tales, but no breaching. (not sure they do that here?) The site at Cape spear has 2 lighthouses (one is the original that is getting refurbished) as well as  bunkers and large guns.  On our way back to the car, we even got to see the frigat sail away that was in the harbour the night before.

We drove back to the house for lunch, which consisted of soup and sandwich (hot dog and rice for lola).  Once lunch was completed we watched some golf, and B and N got ready for the wedding while AA and Lola got ready for a walk. We all went to the site of the wedding reception, but Lola and AA hiked around Mundy Pond, and then took a cool trail through the city back to the house.  On their way they passed through parks, hit up a famers market (which we found out opened today in a new building), passed a baseball game, as well as tattoo convention.  It was 30 degrees so we were pretty hot when we got back.  To our surprise, B and N had made it back before we did.  The ceremony was short and sweet!  We walked for about 1.25 hours.

A chill afternoon of a bit of laundry, finished watching the golf and napping for some was had.  Once all ready again, AA and Lola dropped of B and N at the reception (same location), but this time they took the car, to meet up with a friend from University that they haven't seen in 10 years.  Ryan, was on UMES with us, and a great friend through university.  Last time he remembers seeing us was at our graduation, and he remembers squeezing AA's bottom as we were leaving.  He is a mechanical engineer working for an engineering firm, on a mega project for an offshore rig.  We had great conversation at the Chinched.  We at muscles, squid and some pork products including Pig Ear Fries, it was an interesting meal, but pretty tasty.  After that we walked the harbour with some ice cream.  Making it back to the car, we picked up Ryan from his parked car, to drive him home.  He staged his car at the end of a 10mile race him and his girlfriend are running tomorrow morning.

The visit was great!  Good to catch up with old friends.   The wedding goers also seem to be having a great time.  Here are a few photos of the wedding.

The wedding guests are still going strong while Lola and AA enjoy a movie, and head to bed soon.

It is supposed to rain tomorrow, but hopefully we can get the outdoor activities in that we planned.

Lola.
