Hawaii Jan 7, 2023 - Day 4

Lola didn't set an alarm this morning, AA was a little confused, but they didn't have any were to be this morning.  Still up around 7:30am.  We headed to our new favorite breakfast spot, by Tram, Nui (as the buffet breakfast that we typically would go to daily was kind of disappointing the first day).

We both ordered the same thing as the day before, and it did not disappoint at all.  After breakfast we headed on a little walk as we could see some boats close to the shore.  Yep they were there because there was a pod of whales playing in the ocean. We sat and watched them from the shore, it was pretty amazing.

Back to the room to get ready for some snorkelling.  Our bodies were pretty sore from all the walking yesterday, but we managed to get to the lagoon at the hotel to see some fish.  Thankfully we didn't have any turtle scares today, but there were some near the water fall, but the water was too stirred up to see much, and there were a lot of people.  We saw some really colourful fish and the water was very clear and warm.

We then headed for lunch at Lagoon Grill, were we enjoyed burgers and the view of the dolphins swimming near by in their lagoon.

We then decided to head to a near by beach to enjoy the beautiful day outside. A short 17 minute drive to Hapuna Beach, where they say it is shady! and they were right.  It was so nice to not have to sit on the sand with the blazing sun on you.  Once we arrived we headed straight into the water to check out the snorkelling.  Right at the beginning AA saw a Moray Eel.  The water was pretty calm, but still much harder swimming in the ocean rather than the sheltered Lagoon.  There were lots of fish, Lola's favorite was the puffer fish that blends into to the sand and rocks.  There was also a lot of sea urchins in the rocks right off the shore.

After the snorkelling we just sat on the beach and enjoyed the view, ocean and shade.  It was such a nice afternoon.

Headed back to the hotel to clean up, and get ready for the sunset, and supper.  On our way back we came up to a whole  bunch of goats seating the plants in the median, right near our hotel, they were also all over the golf green that was right there as well. Supper we went back to Nui, but for dinner (which is Italian).  We had been here a lot the last time we stayed here.  It didn't disappoint. AA had pizza while Lola had pink snapper.

Back to their room (by boat), Lola and AA to watch the show from a distance in the location of where the Luau typically is.  This wasn't a Luau but a group event for Preferred Pump, a company that has a rewards program and has many families staying here.  There are a lot of them, and we see them everywhere we go with their Preferred Pump swag (beach bags, floating toys, hats, shirts, etc.)

Tomorrow is our last full day here on the Big Island so we have booked an adventure in the afternoon, but we will see what else the day will bring.  Time to put up our feet (as this slower day still resulted in over 15,000 steps.)

Night Lola.
