Reno has to wait.... We have a date!

Well we have been busy trying to get things checked off our list. It has been a busy 2 weeks, we cleaned up from the painting weekend, and as that was happening, Lola decided she wanted to paint her craft table.
This table was custom built for Lola's Mom over 30 years ago, by their neighbour that lived down the street. It has been in Lola's entire life and means a lot to her, so a little refresh was necessary, but this meant another project.  After a very busy Friday and Saturday she painted it last Sunday.
Here are the before and after,

With the desk painted and the ikea furniture built it is time to put it all back in the craft room. Lola spent about 3 nights thinking about where she was going to place things and then 2 full evenings putting things. She didn't finish before the week was over but better than it was.  The living room is now at least walkable.
But that stuff will have to wait... We have a plane to catch!

Off to Austin, TX. So excited to go see our friends that moved there about 7 weeks ago.  It has been hard for Lola to not see them so often. Good thing for technology, texting and photos really help the situation ( and Mells blog) It has been different without them around, Lola hasn't been to Morden since they moved, she was pretty sad for weeks, so this was something she could look forward too and nothing was going to stop her.  Well work almost did, but she got home with 45 minutes to spare.

Since AA and Lola were going together on the trip there was no one to drive them to the airport but trusty taxi.

Yes we packed in only one suitcase!

Our flight from Winnipeg to Denver was pretty uneventful, although some highlights
- middle aged man singing with his iPod like no one is listening... Sir we are in a metal tube, everyone can here you
- Adam got Hawaiian Kona Coffee, he was pretty excited!
- and the 2 gentlemen in front of us, talked the whole time. They didn't know each other before hand. One was a resident Doctor going to San Diego for a guys weekend, and the other was a business man that was in Winnipeg to help move his parents to a personal care home in Steinbach, and returning home to Denver.

Lola fell asleep on the plane, but when she woke up..they were still talking.

Supper was needed as the carrot and celery sticks (with horrible hummus) and little bag of chips was wearing off fast.
To Lola's favorite place to eat in that airport, new Belgium brewery.  The food was good and didn't take too long. They even gave Lola a "to go" iced tea!

A walk to the complete opposite side of the terminal with a little bit of browsing on the way to get to the gate to go to Austin.

And the view from the plane at the gate wasn't too bad. There is still snow on the mountains!

Lola was excited to see The penguins hockey game was on. The third period was pretty good with the pens scoring 3 goals and try and tie it up.

We made it to Austin with no problems.
We got our rental van...Devins idea so we could all travel together.  the man at the counter was surprised AA was renting a van for one, especially since Lola was still at the baggage claim.

This is the third mini van that the group of us will be travelling in :)

Let the adventures begin. We made it to Mell and Devins new place, only missing one turn. Happy to see each other a few drinks, chips, chatting and then at 2am we decided we should likely go to bed.

Before Mell tucked me in, she told me I had to wait till 10 to get the babies... I have 1 minute...

Patiently waiting.

Let's see what today brings!
