Germany 2019 - Day 3

This morning, Lola got up to have breakfast with AA before he headed on his way to work.  It was a little early at 7:30, but still ended up talking more than AA before he had his coffee. It was a buffet at the hotel.  It had a variety of foods including sausages, boiled eggs, cold cut meats and cheese, and pretzels.  A little disappointed that AA didn't have a pretzel.  I was sure thirsty this morning, after having a decent sleep, I consumed a glass of grapefruit juice, water infused with mint and lemon, sparkling water and a pot of black tea.

Back to the hotel room for AA to head drive 30 minutes to do his work.  Lola decided it was time to get back to bed.  Before leaving AA tucked her back into bed and she fell back to sleep.  When she woke up at 12:30, she was shocked that she had slept so long.  The room was dark and quiet so and she was tired.

Once she got up, she ate the fruit she took from the breakfast, and headed out.  She wondered around trying to find as many of the historic places found on a map that AA sent her the night before.

The walk along the water was beautiful, and so many people walking and biking.  She walked along the water until she got to where she thought was the fisherman quarter, but later found out she walked too far.  Headed up the hill and towards the shopping district in hopes of finding some lunch.

She did find a McDonald's, but decided the line was too long and there should be something a little more authentic to eat.  Walking by so many stores, she stumbled on a place to have a sausage and fries along with a sparkling water.  It was really good, and a beautiful afternoon to sit and look at the church while eating my lunch outside.

After lunch she headed in a few shops but didn't end of buying anything.  Headed into the Ulm Minister to check out the inside.  The pulpit was under construction, so it was very cool that all the pews had the ability to change direction to face the other direction.  The inside was very detailed and the ceiling was very tall.  Of course the organ was the favorite part!

Lola then headed to the fisherman's quarter.  Highlight of the day.  The water flowing between the buildings, rapids, cool architecture, gardens and the crocked house.

The crocked house

A walk back to the hotel, she made sure to see the historic spots along the map including a 2 towers and a church.  The view is amazing right outside our hotel, and finally got to see a boat on the river Danube.

Back at the hotel, AA was back from work, doing some more work since it was 9am back at home.  We chatted a little bit before he decided he needed a nap, while Lola went back out to see more churches.

She got a little lost on her way, but saw some cute places all in a row with a walk way between the sheds and gardens.  The churches corner a park that was actually developed to incorporate a abandoned cemetery.  All the signs were in German but very neat to walk through with old tombstones within the trees.

Back to the hotel walking a different way, and stopping at a grocery store to get chips and drinks for later.

AA was ready for supper when Lola got back, so they headed to the Panorama Room, which was on the 16th floor.  The food was good, and the view was ok, except there were too many lights inside to really get the great view outside.

After supper we headed back to the room to watch some Veronica Mars (which we downloaded and brought with us), as the only English channel is CNN...

Almost time for bed, and AA is hoping to sleep all the way through the night tonight.  See what tomorrow brings and hopefully Lola doesn't sleep most of the morning again..

It is Election day today, but won't see who wins this close race in Canada until we wake up tomorrow.

Lola.
