Nashville - #jamieturns32 Day 3

Well we are behind on blogging because we had a great night out on the town and didn't go to bed till after 1am last night.

In the morning we got up, ate breakfast and headed down to the Ryman Auditorium, a short drive from our Condo.  This is one of the locations that the Grand Ole Opry was located.  The tour was self guided, and the venue was pretty neat.  Not sure I would want to go an event with all the poles and low ceilings, but a very cool historic site.  Once Opry left this location, it was an unused venue, and it took many years for them to pull together to restore the venue and put back in service.

There was a video before the tour, where you learnt all the history, and the technology felt like Disney World, with all the video being protected around the room, feeling like you are actually at an event etc.  We were trying to figure out if some of the locations where the pole is right at the seat is actually sold, and people actually sit there?  J and AA were pretty uncomfortable behind the pole.

After the walk around we headed to a different area of the city, through the Tennessee State Capitol Park.  You don't realize that you are going to be descending a huge hill when you look on google maps.  It was a large hill for these prairie legs.  On our walk we saw a memorial service, many monuments, and a very neat park that had a large map on the ground of the state of Tennessee.  Of course we had to stand on Nashville.

We made it to the Farmers Market, where we walked around the outside vendors, then headed inside the building to find some food.  One of our Lyft drivers told us there was no food on the weekend, but he was mistaken.  The place was full of life, with kids dressed up for Halloween spread throughout.  We all picked something to eat at different vendors, and had a nice meal, while listening to a girl play acoustic covers of pop songs (one of Lola's favorite).

We walked through Printers Alley on our way back to the downtown area, and made our way to Broadway, where we went to the Johny Cash Museum.  It was very crowded in there, but the arrangement of artifacts is incredible.  We were all so surprised at how educated he was, and the many talents he had.  Some interesting facts include; Cash placed at least two signals on the country charts for 38 consecutive years, including an amazing 25 hits between 1958 and 1960.
Johny Cash is the only artist to have songs on the billboard charts for six consecutive decades.  And lastly he recorded over 1500 songs during his career.

Once we toured there we headed across the street to Goo Goo a candy shop.  J bought some chocolate to try and AA and Lola took a photo.

Then we headed back to the condo to give our feet a little break, we had put on about 12000 steps by this point.  On our way, AA decided to cross when there was not very much time left on the crossing, and we all didn't go with hi, so he had to wait around for us on the other side.

After a short break, we headed for a birthday Supper for Jamie at Morton's Steakhouse.  We got special birthday menus, J got a free dessert, and we all enjoyed our steak.  E and AA shared a Tomahawk steak (32 ounces).  The food was great and the atmosphere was a little dark, but still pleasant.  J shared her Raspberry Souffle for dessert and then we headed back to the condo just to drop off our souvenir menus.

Now for the main event Broadway.  It was busy.... very busy, but we had a great time bar hopping, listening to the live music, and a few drinks were drank.  Since it was the Saturday before Halloween, there were lots of people dressed up in costumes.  People watching was definitely part of the evening. We went to The Second Fiddle, Dierks Whiskey Row, Kid Rock's Big Honky Tonk and Rock n' Roll Steakhouse (floors 2 and 3), and lastly to Nudie's Honky Tonk.

trying to get out...

We had a great time but just after 11 we headed back to the condo, where we had cheaper drinks and we played Phase 10.  Don't worry we let the birthday girl win!
