Nashville - #jamieturns32 - Day 2

AA has been assigned blog duties for Day 2.

Friday morning started in a relaxed manner.  AA had work to do so he got up first before 8.  He was followed by J who woke up shortly after 8 and then E at around 8:20.  Lola was last, getting out of bed close to 9am.  The gang ate a small breakfast of bagels (waffles for Lola) and tea/coffee/orange juice.

First up on today's agenda was Top Golf after a short Lyft ride.  AA and Lola had been to Top Golf before (in Austin) but this was the first time for E and J.  The weather required the heaters to be on at Top Golf and AA claims that the precipitation caused his shots to not hit their targets.  Meanwhile everyone else seemed to be lucky...

After two golf games and a quick 10 mins of "hit-as-many-balls-as-best-you-can" game, we made our way down to the restaurant for lunch.

After lunch, we took our Lyft back to our condo for a small siesta.  Once batteries were re-charged and shoes were changed, we took an Uber to Opry Land.  We had a backstage tour booked for 3:30 before our dinner reservations at Bavarian Bierhaus which was in the mall beside the Grand Ole Opry.

Yes, Carrie Underwood is on the setlist for tonight!

I think E saw a ghost
The tour was pretty interesting, learning about the flood in 2010 that had 4 feet of water (above stage level) throughout the Grand Ole Opry and all of the different dressing rooms.  It was very cool to stand on the stage, in the circle of hardwood from the Ryman Auditorium which was the previous home of the Grand Ole Opry until 1974.  We were even able to get a sneak peak at the setlist for the show tonight which we had tickets too.

Mailboxes - for fan mail.  No need to enter a street address or zip code, just address the envelope to your favourite artist at "Grand Ole Opry".

Dinner was delicious.  Well, at the least the beer certainly was (just kidding, everyone really enjoyed their sausage meals).

Yes, AA had a litre of beer

After dinner, we made our way back to Grand Ole Opry House to get ready for the show.  AA took some good selfies and his may have been the top hit with the #opry hashtag.

The top hit

See, I wasn't kidding
The show was amazing - all of the performers were very talented and included:

Jeannie Seely
Tegan Marie (15 years old +1 day)

Karen Mills
Anita Cochran

Riders in the Sky

Connie Smith
Rita Wilson (Tom Hanks' wife)
Ronnie Milsap (none of us knew he was blind)

Gone West (made their Opry debut; was two husband-and-wife couples, one being Colbie Caillat)

and Carrie Underwood (almost 9 months pregnant!!)

After the show, the girls went back to the giftshop to buy a few things and then we made our way back to the mall to wait out the long line of cars trying to leave Opryland.  Back to the Bierhaus for a night cap of beer, pretzel and sausage (and tea) for Lola.

Now, we are planning the day for tomorrow.  We have a tour purchased for the Ryman and will see what else the day brings.  The bars on Broadway apparently don't have any cover...
