California - July 8th 2022 - Day 2 - Disneyland

This morning Lola and AA went for breakfast at the hotel... and we were the only people in the restaurant. The food filled our belly's and we headed back to our room to see if the others were awake.  Things weren't going that great still, so B, MBMell, AA and Lola headed to Disneyland without T and DD.

The walk was only about 15 minutes which was great, AA did a great job finding a hotel.  We got into the park no problem about 1 hour before the park opened.

We headed into the park and started the day off with Big Thunder Railroad, followed by Jungle Cruise.  We then stopped for some breakfast for the others and happy to have T and DD meet us there.

Once we were all reunited, we continued to use Genie + to get lightening Lane access (skipping some of the long lines). We headed to its a small world that didn't have a long wait, as we wanted DD to experience it.  Oh yeah... forgot to mention DD hasn't been here before... so it was fun to talk about the differences between Disney World and Disneyland rides.

After that we headed to a ride we haven't been on, Autotopia. The line was kind of long, but we all enjoyed the ride.  T and MBMell didn't want to drive, while B requested going with Lola to drive, and prove herself as a good driver.  This ride is kind of like Tomorrowland Speedway in Disney World, but we all enjoyed it better, as there are underpasses, overpasses, and way more turning on the course.  T wanted to go with DD, so therefore MBMell went with AA.

Next we headed to Galaxy Edge, Star Wars land, where we went on Smugglers Run. We are experienced and knew exactly what positions we were going to take before we were asked.  Then we headed to lunch at docking bay 7.  They had different food than at Disney World.  We all enjoyed our meals, and AA really enjoyed his drink with cocoa balls on coffee with cream cheese topping.

We headed through Critter Country and tried to go in the Haunted mansion, but the line was pretty long, so AA suggested we go to Davey Crockett Canoes.  So we got in a line and waited... not sure what we were getting into... but we all got handed a paddle and into a canoe we went to paddle around the river.  We actually had a great time!  There were animals along the way, moose, a beaver eating the bridge and some cats. Lola didn't get many photos as we were busy paddling, and making sure T and B didn't drop their paddles in the water.

Splash Mountain we had lightening lane, so away we went after canoeing, T didn't want to get wet so it was just B, MBMell, AA and Lola.  We had a great time, and B was sure excited to sit in the front.  The guy behind AA was petrified of the ride, and we sure got wet, good thing we were in the California sun!

Kids got their Churro's and we headed to Pirates of the Caribbean.

T had his "plan" so we headed to the spinning cups and Dumbo, AA and Lola had a turkey leg while the kids went on the spinning cups 2 times.  It was sure good.  On Dumbo, DD decided we would swish 3 in each elephant so we didn't have to wait another turn... it was a little squishy.

We then stood in a long line for Peterpan.  It was sure hot in the sun, and we didn't get any photos of this long wait.  The ride was alright, but Lola things Disney World is better.

Once we got through that ride, we headed to the dinner reservation at Goofy's Kitchen, walking through Downtown Disney on our way.  The dinner is at Disneyland Hotel.  It was a decent walk, and the kids were tired and hot by the time we got there. The meal was great... the characters danced around us about every 15 minutes. B continued to thank Lola for making this reservation as she really enjoyed her 4 plates of food, and all the desserts, and selection at the buffet.

After supper we headed back into Disneyland to and 4 of us went on the India Jones Ride.  DD really loves that movie, so was pretty excited to go on it. Lola remembers it not being very good, but it was better than she remembered.

We found the others at the bathroom, and headed to the Main Street Electrical Parade.  We were pretty late to find a spot, but luckily there was a nice family that let the kids get to the front and we all could see from our viewing spot.  It was pretty much the same parade we saw in 2019, but they changed the end float and upgraded the big drum for the 50th anniversary.

Once the parade was over, we were going to split up, but found out the rides we were going to go on were closed, so Lola and AA headed to get her some Dole whip while the others went back to the hotel.  Lola and AA weren't far behind, but stopped a few times on the walk back to see the fireworks.

The adults hung out chatting this evening, while the kids went to bed.

We had a great day!

Tomorrow is California Adventure!
