Lola in Texas Again - Austin Day 1

Leaving -31 C for +7 was pretty amazing.  I left AA in Manitoba to work, where he had to travel to Thompson MB with the business jet he has been working on for Cold Weather Testing, while I went South to Austin Texas.  It was an early morning this morning, to be at the airport at 5am when AA only got back from a work trip from Chicago at 11:30 pm  the night before.  He was very nice and let me continue sleeping when he got home and had to pack again, for his flight that left 1.5 hours after mine.

AA working hard!

A "Lola long weekend" which is really a week long over the weekend :).  Flights were pretty uneventful, just full.  I watched 1.5 movies, had a nap, and people watched.  In Minneapolis I got some food and tea which helped me make it on the second leg of the flight with ease.

My feet were happy to not have to wear socks.

Once arriving at the airport I waited for my ride to pick me up, where I was greeted by 2 excited kids and one happy mom!  B brought me one cherry tomato in a bag because she knew i would be hungry!  What a sweet kid.  It was a little mushy as she held it on the 30 minute drive all the way, but I ate it and she was sure proud of herself!  It was an awesome jester.

We then went to one of my favourite restaurants for lunch, Shake Shack, where they have a gluten free burger that I can eat!  Oh it I missed that restaurant.  The crinkle cut fries and half and half drink topped of the great meal!  T was pretty happy to see me, that he just wanted to be close to me, so lots of hugs and cuddles.

We then went to their old house to get laundry to do at the new house!  There new house is under a bit of renovation, so a little dirty and dusty, but we managed to get some laundry done with only having to change the kids once!  We explored the green space behind their house as well as played in the backyard, while the laundry was going, and B and T were sure excited to find the"sunflower".

We helped MBMell do some errands, like get the new mail key as well as check the mail box, which was surprisingly full depsite the fact that the mail lady said they likely would have no mail... she was wrong.

We waited for DD to get home to go out for supper, while looking for 2 things, the cheque book and toaster.  We were unsuccessful before supper.  Once DD got there, we tried to go to Texas Roadhouse, but the line was crazy, then headed to classic Texas BBQ at Rudy's.  Don't worry we got to sit by the Texas Longhorn Cow photo.

After supper we headed to the new house to get the clean pjs, and look for these 2 items.  DD took the kids back to the old house to sleep, while MBMell and Lola finished folding laundry, and found the toaster oven (not the toaster we were looking for) and the cheque book.  We only opened maybe 50% of the boxes to find it.  oh well our plan in the next couple of days is to unpack, so it helped familiarize ourselves with the stuff in the boxes.

Back to the old house to sleep, where there are air mattresses and the crib beds for the kids (and a few other odds and ends) but an empty house otherwise.

We stayed up to chat a little, and then to bed (likely later than we should be going to bed).  But that is usually what happens when MBMell and Lola get together.

Hopefully we will get some cleaning and unpacking done tomorrow!  Wish us luck with 2 very active kids :)

Oh and Lola brought brown puppies again... the kids were sure excited to see them.  They went everywhere with us today...  Here are few photos of them and the puppies.

Night, Lola.

(hope you all are not too cold back home)
