Lola travels to Texas - Day 5

This morning, DD got up early to charge the Tesla, as with the detours taken, the unexpected breakfast excursion and the closed restaurant, the Tesla was cutting it close to make it back to Three Rivers to the super charger.  So he got up, drove to the mall where there was a "normal" charger.  We told DD that he should be back with breakfast (from the grocery store by 8:45am).  Once he got to the charger and realized it wouldn't charge very fast, he walked to the HEB for the groceries and got a Lyft ride back to the hotel, he left the Tesla charging at the mall.

As he walked through the door at about 8:15, the twinkies were stirring and up they went.  MbMell and Lola were happy to get that extra 30 minutes of sleep.  Once awake, Lola noticed the wonderful message that DD left, asking if we wanted a Starbucks... points DD, but the ladies were sad that we didn't see the message before he arrived, as we didn't get a Starbucks.

We enjoyed our grocery store breakfast, consisting of Bananas, Yogurt, Boiled Eggs and Rice Cakes. We all really enjoyed it!  Thanks DD!

After breakfast we headed to the beach.  The water was warm.  Lola and MbMell, kept feeling something on their leg, but tried to be brave for the kids.  At 10 am the water was warm and the weather was hot already. 37 degrees at 10am... we were in for a hot day.  The kids were fish, loving the water and the beach.  Swimming and building sand castles.  It was awesome to see how confident they both have become in the water, and with the waves.

DD headed back to the mall for the car, while the 4 of us hung out at the beach for about 20 minute more, then washed off, and headed back to the room the check out.  We had about 15 minutes to change, pack up and check out... we were a few minutes late, but did pretty good.  The Twinkies enjoyed watching more Frozen while the ladies packed and then while we waited for DD to bring the Tesla back to pick us up.

We headed back to Three Rivers to the super charger and lunch.  T was finally getting his McDonalds he has been asking for for days.  We ate a great meal, and I got my half sweet tea, half unsweet tea!

After lunch, the Tesla was almost fully charged and away we went..."on the road again".  The drive was pretty uneventful.  Lola had to pee about 1.5 hour after lunch, so we stopped at the Starbucks MbMell found... in the target.  We all had a bathroom break.... and Lola and MbMell got their Starbucks!  MbMell had her first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season!

Oh and on the way to Austin it rained.  MbMell says it always rains on the way home from a weekend away.

The final journey of our drive was pretty heavy traffic through the construction zones heading into Austin, but much better than the way out.  We made our way to the Whole Foods to get some food for supper, as well as the noodles that Lola wants to take back to Winnipeg.  T fell asleep so, DD and him stayed in the car, while miss independent came shopping.

B wouldn't let us push the cart, picked out the fruit to buy, got the salmon from the man, and reached things that we couldn't reach.  Oh lets not forget that Brown puppy came with us as well.  We saw a friend in the store, and B had to tell them that she had brown puppy shopping, and that he had come all the way from Manitoba.  Our shopping trip was excellent and B was so good, and hilarious.  Just shopping like an adult.  We even gave her a celebratory ride on the escalator as she was so good.

Back at the house, we unpacked, Lola made supper, and the twinkies finished frozen.  We all enjoyed the home cooked meal of Salmon, baked potatoes (in the Instapot) and steamed broccoli.  After supper, the twinkies had a bath and then headed to bed and DD lied down from an early morning and a long drive.  They went to bed pretty good, with only one escape artist move, but once tucked back in fell asleep.

Once in their rooms, the ladies did laundry, dishes, ate "ice cream", did a little catalogue and online shopping, and just continued to catch up.  We got more "ice cream, as we had a debate about a pool that MbMell was sure she remembered correctly in Gavelston, so went back to the blog reference, and then I saw the maple ice cream... and had to have more.... here is the blog for reference... and wow those kids have sure slimmed.  http://akcoolidge.blogspot.com/2016/05/austin-last-day.html

2 flavors, salted caramel (Halo vegan), and Maple Peacan (nada moo).

Tomorrow the twinkies have school, DD has work, and the ladies... well we will see where the day takes us (shopping anyone?)!

Hope you all had a great long weekend.

Lola.
