Lola travels to Texas - Day 4

This morning, T's internal clock woke us up at 7:45am.  He knows exactly what time he is allowed to get out of bed in the morning at home.... and it didn't change this morning.  The TV came on to give the adults a little more sleep time.  We got ready for the day and planned on eating at the hotel for breakfast, to find out it was pretty poor service, and took forever.  We sat down at the restaurant for over 5 minutes, and no on even came to say good morning.  So we headed to the car to find some breakfast before our big day at the Texas State Aquarium.

We found a Deny's about 6 miles away.  We enjoyed our breakfast (we were all a little too hungry by the time we got our food).  The kids enjoyed smoothies again, and our service was great.

We got back to the car, to make our way to the aquarium, which was walking distance from our hotel, but not anymore.  The roads were under construction, and DD may have taken a wrong turn, which caused us to go back over the large bridge, and all the way back to Deny's before being able to head back over the large bridge and get to the aquarium.  This time listening to Lola, way in the back of the Tesla.

We finally made it only about 1.5 hours later than we had really planned, but still had plenty of time to explore the giant aquarium.  We were there pretty much all day.  It had more than just water animals, which was pretty cool.  Highlights include the anticipated Sloth!  Which was hiding in a bush, just minding his own business, while the employee held the tree branch so people could see him move very very slowly.  There were also many touch ponds which the Twinkies really enjoyed.  We touched hermit crabs, star fish, a jelly fish, and stingrays.  The sharks were sleeping in the corner of the pond that we couldn't reach them.  B enjoyed all the statues and of course her friend the eel.

We also got to see a great dolphin show.  We waited over 30 minutes to see it, and luckily we went when we did because not everyone that wanted to see it got to, but luckily MbMell suggested that we went, and we got a seat!  It was a long wait, but the twinkies were very good, and patient.

Other highlights included the Toucan, sea turtles, and don't forget about the river otter!

All the B poses with the Statues.

After we saw all the animals, we headed to the splash pad that was in the aquarium.  The kids had a blast.  They played in the water for 1.5 hours.  The adults wish they had brought their bathing suits as it was very warm outside, good thing we had some shade and DD bought us some water.  MbMell and lola went to the gift shop to find some amazing shirts for the kids...and maybe something for AA, he will have to wait until I get home.

Sloth shirt!

MbMell still had a little too much of the heat, and once we got back in the car, she wasn't feeling so hot.  We tried to drive to Blue Clover for some supper, but once arrived the restaurant was closed, MBMell just needed to lie down, so back to the hotel we went.  DD, Lola and the Twinkies had supper at the hotel.  It was decent meal, and we were all patient with B while she took forever to eat her supper, but finished her whole meal.  T had to go to the washroom, so I told DD to take him back to the room, while I waited for B.  I took a photo of the finished plate, but B told me as I was taking it that "she wanted nothing to do with the photo".  I got a photo before she closed her eyes in disgust that I was taking the photo.

Chatting up the lady as we are leaving.  T on the other hand was crying so sad that we had to go.

Big boats coming to shore

Finished all her supper.

We had a good evening, with a little watching of Frozen, then the wonderful fun of trying to get the Twinkies to bed. They weren't bad, just had a hard time sleeping as they fell asleep in the car at 5:30.  They are finally sleeping, and it is almost time for the adults to go to bed.

It is back to Austin tomorrow. But hopefully we will hit the beach first, as it is right out the door of the hotel :)

We should go to bed, as I am sure T's internal clock will be up at 7:45 tomorrow!

Lola.
