Austin 3.0 - Day 1

Howdy y'all!

Lola and AA made it to Austin without any major issues.  Flights were on-time and we had enough time to enjoy the Air Canada Lounges at both the Winnipeg and Toronto airports - some food and drinks helped us pass the time.

The only small issue was on the flight from Toronto to Austin.  AA had upgraded himself and Lola to business class for the 3.5hrs flight and thought he had ordered fruit plates for them both instead of a standard meal.  Unfortunately, this didn't seem to be the case so instead of getting a very healthy fruit plate (like last time), Lola selected a few items off of the buy-onboard menu (carrots and celery and some humus).  AA had a ravioli meal, shortly after he had enjoyed a burger at Wahlburgers in the airport.

Once in Austin and a short stop at the baggage carousel to get their single checked bag (yes, Lola and AA were able to pack in ONE suitcase, Lola was skeptical), there was a small wait for their door-to-door chauffeur service to arrive (ie. MBMell and DD with the Tesla).  Then, it was a drive in rush hour traffic to pick up the twinkies from pre-school/daycare.

And boy were they excited to see Lola... and AA.

They talked the whole 20 mins we were in the car from daycare to the Domain and then home
Since it was already starting to get late and the Jets game was due to start in 2 hrs, we decided to go straight to dinner at the Domain.  Unfortunately, T couldn't quite "hold it" and had a small accident.  So, back to the house for a quick bath and change of clothes.  And unpack the suitcases from the car.

Then, back to the Domain and supper at Shake Shack.  The kiddos enjoyed eating outside and playing bean-bag toss.

After supper and on the drive back home, it was uncovered that the twinkies had the same meals as Lola - pancakes (in Lola's case, waffles), a burger for lunch and burger for supper.  We joked that hopefully tomorrow (Thursday) will be different.

Once back home, kids got ready for bed and AA read them a bedtime story.  Afterwards, the adults watched the hockey game - it was a painful experience, if only the Jets started the game like they finished (3 shots in the first period is 4 times too little).

Celebrating one of the Jets goals!
We went to bed relatively early as most of us had been up early - AA and Lola since 5:30am and DD since the same time, it's unclear which timezone he was referencing but nevertheless was early enough for his standards.

Anyways, kiddos are starting to wake up from the afternoon nap so will have to blog Day 2 later tonight during "adult time".
