The Falls of Niagara

Day two was spent taking in the sites and sounds of Niagara Falls.

We started the day with breakfast at IHOP. Then it was off to play mini golf at Dinosaur Mini Golf. Lola was excited.

Lola got a hole in one on the first hole

AA eventually won the round, but not after having to pull up his socks to get a lead.

From there, we went and got Lola some happy juice from Tim Hortons. As we drank our coffee and tea, we wandered around the parks close to the Niagara River and stumbled across a quaint outdoor theatre:

We then sat down by the river and enjoyed the sunshine and slight breeze (and to watch all the people milling about, taking in the view of the falls).  There was a Japanese tour group that were posing for a picture when we stopped, so naturally AA took a picture of them taking a picture.

After the hot beverages were consumed, it was time to go on the Ferris Wheel, to get a different perspective of the falls. It wasn't very busy and Lola and AA were able to enjoy the pod alone and snap some cool pictures:

Lola was pretty excited she caught an action shot of the volcano erupting at Dino golf

After 4 revolutions of the Ferris wheel, our ride was over and it was time for another walk down by the water, enroute to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch.

Then, it was time to head back to the hotel to drop off some bags (with some souvenirs) and a short siesta:

Lola spent the time watching multiple sporting events at the same time - hockey and baseball:

Once the blue jays won, it was time to go up the Skylon Tower and see for 80 miles. The views were spectacular - clear enough to see Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo.

Horseshoe falls - completely Canadian

After the Skylon, we headed back to the hotel for a quick clothes change and then off to supper at Sandstone Grill:

Supper was delicious, and the place was super busy with what seemed to be tour busses.

On the walk back, we made a quick detour past the upside down house before making our way to Niagara Brewing Company to kill some time before the fireworks.

Lola wanted some tea from Tims so we stopped there on the way. A 5 mins wait for steeped tea turned into 20. For some reason the steeped tea basket wasn't working so the workers had to manually transfer water through the basket and filter to make the tea. Lola didn't mind, she got some free vouchers which we later find out to might not work as we were rejected at one Tims.

A flight of beer please

Rainforest cafe - just steps away

After some beers and Lola finished her tea, we made our way back to the falls to setup for some fireworks. We scouted a good spot with a good view of the horseshoe falls. AA setup his tripod and snapped a few pics:

However, at 10pm when the fireworks were supposed to start, a police officer was walking up and down the boardwalk telling people that the fireworks were cancelled.

Darn. At least we got to see the falls lit up. And everything else through the day. Next up - Toronto and a Blue Jays game!
