BANG goes to Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg and Halifax

We started off the day with breakfast at the hotel, and then headed to the van to head to Peggy's Cove.  The drive was scenic and full of forests, cottage like homes, and laughs in the van, Blair seems to undo Nadines seat belt majority of the time when he tries to buckle up after she has already.

Once we reached Peggy's Cove the landscape changed dramatically.  Minimal trees, flatter landscape and a lot of rock outcrop.  Once at Peggy's cove, we parked the van,and walked up the hill to the lighthouse, stopping along the way to capture and enjoy the rustic small homes and the dramatic landscape of the ocean and rock.

Here are a few photos:

Climbing the rocks and admiring the concrete lighthouse (disscusion was had about the construction and materials used for the lighthouse)
Quaint little fishing village.

After we got back to the van, off to Lunenburg for whale watching we went.  A quick stop just as we got back onto the highway to check out the Swiss Air III memorial.

It was very well done!

Then back on the road for about an hour and a half drive. Once arriving in Lunenburg we found a parking spot, and headed towards the water to try and find some food before our whale watching tour was set to leave.

Out on the patio, we all enjoyed some sea food.  Fish and chips for Nadine and Blair, salmon burger for Adam and scallops, baked potato and peas and carrots for Lola.  Food was really good.  Then a little walk about since we had about 20 minutes to kill.

Waiting to get on the boat.

The caption looked like captain highliner.

So the boat ride started out just fine, weather was nice and pretty smooth.  Lola didn't have a very great experience as she first got wet, we didn't pick the dry side of the boat, and then she got a little ocean sick.  The travels was about 3 hours long and at about 2 hours when she didn't see any animals yet and we were going up and down, and she got so wet that she felt like she had had an accident, it all set it,and she was sure nausous.

Getting wet

The men patiently waiting

Lola feeling a little green. At leas she wasn't the only one on the boat feeling this way.  Eventually she went back to the outside of the boat, where she got some fresh air, and had a little nap, and felt a little better as we headed back.

Still smiling.

We then passed The Ovens, which was the site of an old gold mine with cool tunnels in the cliffs.

Back to shore we went, the most exciting thing Adam and Blair saw was a bird on a pallet floating in the water.

A pretty sail boat with the awesome village of Lunenburg in the background.

After we got back to land.... Hey why not get on another boat!

This one was docked and pretty cool, the Bluenose II.

The happy couple!

Once the quick tour of the boat, back to the van to head back to Halifax for supper.  The drive about 1 hour and bite and consisted of pointing out all the volkswagens we saw, as well as naming many other makes.

The highways back.

Off to Salty's for supper, where we all had seafood again, and of course it was Lola's time to finally have Lobster! And don't forget about the bib!  Excellent food, great views and then a little walk, and back to the hotel. The day was pretty good, too bad Lola had to not feel well.  Hopefully our legs can recover tonight so we can get our step count up tomorrow too.
