Once we boarded, AA told us we just needed to sleep, but food service took a while, so Lola and AA watched a movie while they waited.
Food took about 3 hours to get, so this cut into their sleeping time. The food was ok, and then once this was done, we went to sleep. Well Lola did, but not sure how long it took AA to fall asleep. Lola put on her mask, put on the sleepy music and fell asleep.
The flight was pretty uneventful, except for the announcement to try and get a Doctor or Nurse to go help a person on the flight, we aren't sure what happened, but we were already over Greenland, was hoping we didn't have to make an emergency landing. It seems the person was ok and we landed in Edinburgh on time.
Lola did get woken for breakfast, where she is unsure what she was eating. Maybe Tofu eggs?
We landed and successfully got off the plane. We went through passport control and got our suitcase.
We waited for about 2 hours for our friends to make it. While we waited we had some food from the coffee shop just outside the gate, The Black Sheep. It was kind of difficult to eat, but we tried our best.
Once our friends landed we got a text that they were coming in hot.... didn't know what that meant, but we were prepared.
They came out with plastic bags, no shirts (just a hoodie), t-shirts, and not looking so good. Turns out B threw up on the plane just after they got meal service. Got cleaned up and then threw up again. DD gave her his hoody, MBMell had to take hers off because it also had vomit on it.
They rallied and we headed outside to get to the bus to take us downtown Edinburgh. Once downtown we took another bus to get us to our place. We still had a little walk, but we made it just fine. They were still cleaning our place, so we dropped off our bags and went for a little 15 minute walk around the neighbourhood, B just wanted to change and have a shower, but that had to wait.
We toured around then headed back. B showered and Lola cleaned the puke off the clothes, as DD had seen enough, and MBMell would puke.
After we got cleaned up, we were sitting on the couch and realized we should get outside and do something or we would all fall asleep, so we headed outside to the Botanical Gardens that was about 10 minute walk away. Just before we were about to leave, it poured rain, so we were delayed a few minutes, but once it past the sky turned a little blue, and it was decently enjoyable to go for a stroll outside.
B chose that we went to the Rock garden portion which was really cool. Unfortunately the Palm Garden was closed, and that is what Lola had read about, but it was still really nice.
We went then walked to the restaurant for Lola's Birthday, called The Raeburn. Lola suggested the they have appies called Scotch Eggs and B wanted soda bread. She was starving, so happy to have some bread! The food was delicious. Kids had burgers, DD and AA had like a pot pie and mash, MBMell had fish and chips and Lola had a steak and fries. We were all very satisfied.
Back to our place, the boys stopped for some beer, we waited impatiently outside. The kids were jacked when we got back, so we played some tower fall, well DD and Lola and the kids. MBMell went to bed, and AA was zoned out.
We didn't play that many times because the adults couldn't concentrate, but once we played a few rounds, we went to bed. AA and MBMell were out before the kids were.
Lola's phone wasn't working very well, so not sure she got all the birthday messages, but she got some.
It was a great day, but felt short for Lola's Birthday, as she lost 7 hours.....
