Florida 2022 - Day 12

We switch Disney Resort Hotels today, and thankfully Bell Services picked up our luggage and brought it to our other resort, while we packed up the rest of the car and headed to Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral.  The kids were excited to get iPad Time, and the adults got some "quite" time. We went through 3 tolls on our way, and Lola saw an Alligator out the window.

Kennedy Space Center was not very busy.  We started off by looking at the Nature and Technology exhibit and then the Rocket Garden.  AA claimed that was where they grew the rockets, B rolled her eyes.

After a short journey among the different rockets, it was time for lunch at Orbit Cafe.

Once lunch was finished, we made our way onto the bus to go to the Saturn V Rocket exhibit.

The exhibit had changed since the last time the gang had been at KSC (and the twinkies are a little bit bigger).  We even got to look outside at the launch pads for SpaceX and NASA.

It was a short bus trip back to the main visitor center and it was time to visit the Atlantis (shuttle) exhibit.  This area did not change very much since the last time but was still enjoyed by all.  B and DD ended up going on a "launch experience" while T, MBM and Lola went to Planet Play for T to burn off some energy.  AA spent some more time walking around the shuttle exhibit and founds some very somber pieces from the Challenger and Columbia shuttle events:

After everyone was done their experiences, it was almost closing time so the crew went into the largest NASA gift shop on the planet (that's what it said) and then made their way to the car to drive back to Orlando.

The drive back was uneventful until we made our first (of two) stops for supper.  The first stop was at a Shake Shack (Lola's favourite burger place) but it was eventually found that the restaurant was in a food court in an outlet mall.

The decision was made to find a "real restaurant" so that Lola had a better chance at having her double shack burger with a gluten free bun.  And they were successful finding a restaurant not too far away.

Supper was delicious as always.  Then, it was a 20 mins drive to the next hotel at Animal Kingdom, where our balcony opens onto a small little savannah with zebras, giraffes, impalas and wildebeests (to name a few).

After everyone was settled in, AA and Lola packed up a few things and went to Magic Kingdom for some extended hours with the park being open until 1am for select resort guests.  The weather was excellent and the lines were shorter.  Lola was especially excited to get some photos taken:

We got a little wet on Splash Mountain

After riding Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan and Space Mountain, they were done for the night.  Lola even had time to have a quick Dole Whip snack.

Tomorrow is another rest day, and a well needed one.  Hopefully everyone has a good night's sleep and is ready for some exploring and pool time at the hotel.
