We took this morning pretty easy, no alarm, no plans. We enjoyed watching whales while eating breakfast on the balcony. After breakfast we went for a short walk along the beach, watched the swimmers, snorklers, whales, and waves.
We walked past the famers market along the boardwalk on our way back to the hotel.
Back at the room to get ready for our adventure of the day. We headed south to Kihei/Wailea area for lunch and golf. The drive is always scenic and we enjoyed it until we got stopped very abruptly on the highway. We had 2 emergency vehicles come towards us, so Lola thought it was a car accident or something the back up. Turns out it was some sort of accident, but seems it was on the cliffs, the fire fighters were using ropes and pulleys to try and recover something/someones, from the ocean/cliffs, but we couldn't see that much, it was very elaborate.
Once past the accident we still had a lot of time before our lunch reservation, we tried to stop at the scenic point, but there was no parking, so we headed to Kihei. We drove along the south road/ocean, stopping at a park on the way. We walked along the boardwalk, watching the surfers for a while, then headed back to the car.
Lunch was at Monkeypod in Wailea. We had eaten there our last trip (on Oahu), and Lola wanted to go again. She enjoyed the virgin Monkeypod Mai Tai and the fish tacos. AA enjoyed his fish sandwich. The fish was so tender and fresh! We ate way too fast, that we had about 1.5 hours before our tee time at the golf course, so Lola suggested we went to Maui Brewing Co.
We couldn't figure out if there was food to eat there for Lola, so we couldn't eat a meal, but why not go for drinks. Lola really wanted a Root Beer Slushie, but unfortunately they only had fruit juice. Not what she wanted, so the locally made Root beer on tap she had instead. AA was excited to try 8 beers (2 flights of 4), since we had so much time before our tee time. The brewery was huge, and we enjoyed chatting with the bar tender and drinking our drinks.
After golf we also were very early for our dinner reservation at 5:45, but we went early to see if we could get in to Tante, Maalaea Habor Restaurant and Bar. Luckily there as no issue. We could see the ocean and a marina where we went on the whale watching tour from. The real problem was what Lola was going to get to eat. She ended up ordering the special... Steak and Lobster, with rice and veggies for $29.99 (like $20 off). But wow was it good. AA had the Hawaiian Plate (which was Luau food). He also really enjoyed his meal. Oh and the unsweet tea was $1 more than the $3 happy hour beer AA got.
After supper we drove into the sunset back to the hotel. We got a really good view of Lahaina as we drove down the bypass. All you can see is the Banyon Tree, where there used to be building surrounding and you weren't' able to see it.
Back at the hotel, we suited up and went for a swim. To our surprise the water was perfect temperature. Lola didn't have any issues getting in the water, and it felt nice on their muscles. A very quick dip in the hot tub (worried about AA fainting again), but it was very hot, so we went back in the pool.
After almost an hour in the pool, gazing at the stars and floating around, we headed back to the room to watch the end of Mrs Doubtfire, enjoy some beverages, watch a few episodes of Golden Girls and we were sleeping by 10pm.
Tomorrow is a more relaxed day, see how the weather holds out, we may see some showers.
Night Lola.
