Japan 2024 - Back to Disney (June 9)

Today we checked out of our Airbnb at 9:00 so we could get some lunch to bring with us on our 2.5 hrs bullet train ride to Tokyo. We brought our luggage with us as we walked on the sidewalk to Kyoto Station. T had some money left and wanted to buy Pokémon cards, they are so much cheaper in Japan. He was so excited how much he got.  B on the other hand gave him all her “change” and could have bought packs of her own, but didn’t have any money left.  The change was about 600 yen, which is about 6.00$.  We tried to teach her a life lesson, but not sure she quite gets it yet.

At the station, we searched around for different food options. Lola and MBM got beef rice bento boxes. AA got a pork cutlet and egg salad sandwich and a cheese and edamame breadstick. T had bacon cheese bread. B had fried potatoes and chicken meatballs on a stick. And DD had a pork cutlet sandwich and an omelette sandwich.  The ride felt very short, too short for DD who just wants to ride around on bullet trains all day (likely so he can play video games).

That is Mount Fuji in the background.  It was very cloudy both times we took the bullet train past.

Once in Tokyo station, we had to find our way to the train to take us back to Maihama Station, beside Tokyo Disneyland, where we are staying for the next two nights. We found our train, which was not very full, and made the 18 mins journey to the station.
We have been joking about this Pocari Sweat and how AA could bottle it from his shirt, but once we purchased it and tried it it is actually pretty good. We probably should have been drinking it the whole time.

Once at the station, we had to do a “fare adjustment” since we were not issued a new ticket after we got off the train (this is normal) and did so successfully. It was a short 15 mins walk to the hotel where we got checked in early, dropped off our bags and then headed to Disneyland for the remainder of the afternoon since our hotel rate included tickets. We had so many tickets with our vacation package, Lola and MBMell tried to sort it all out.  Our room was the smallest on the trip, but we managed in our Tinker Bell Themed room.

We got to the park shortly after 4pm and basically walked right in as there was no line this late in the day. Our first ride was Splash Mountain, which MBM read that the ride doesn’t get you wet. What she read was wrong - AA and Lola got a good face wash from the last drop on the ride.

We did a couple more rides to kill time before getting something to eat for supper, riding the railroad which DD did not know that there were dinosaurs in one of the caves on the ride. We also went on the paddle wheel boat which AA and Lola haven’t gone on before. Fairly relaxing rides to pass the time. We also had a priority ticket for Beauty and the Beast. It was still just as good as the first time.

After getting food at Huey, Dewey and Louie’s again, we had to pass a little more time before getting photos with Mickey. So, we decided to go inside Cinderella’s castle to see some of the artwork, the glass slipper and one of us sat in her chair. The view of the park from a higher vantage point was also neat.

Next, we went back to Toontown for our picture with Mickey, a stop for some snacks at Gastons Tavern and then made our way to pick up our photo from the photo shop from our ride on Splash Mountain and headed back to the hotel room to get kids to bed.

After leaving the park, we noticed a sign that said it was Donalds Birthday.  And we looked it up, and sure was.

The adults crammed together near the bathroom to spend some more time having drinks and playing cribbage while MBM browsed her phone and participated in the conversation.

It’s going to be an earlier start tomorrow since we have breakfast at 6:30am. No one is particularly excited about the very early morning start but we are excited to spend the day at the newly opened Fantasy Springs section at Disney Seas.
