Today we had a very busy day, but yet not busy. First thing in the morning we signed up for Yoga at our hotel, it was right by the pool, at 7 am. It felt so good to get that in, our bodies are feeling sore from that long walk we took.
There were a total of 9 people signed up but only 8 people showed up. We did it on the turf with beach towels. The instructor taught the class in english and Japanese, which was an experience, when our eyes were closed it was hard to know when she was talking english to listen. I was proud of AA as she didn't have to comment on his posses at all, unlike some of the other participants! It was misty on us almost the entire time, but it wasn't to bad.

After the hour class, we headed for breakfast, which we had been smelling for the entire class. We sat inside this time, as the rain was starting to really come down.
We headed back to the room to get ready for some golf. AA had picked a place that was about 30 minutes out of Honolulu. We got our car, and then Lola realized they didn't have their rental car insurance. So back to the room she went. As she arrived back at the car with the envelope, AA meant to say he also wanted his camera bag... so back to the room she went for a 2nd time, making sure that is all he forgot.
In the car, we headed our way out of the city, to get to Bayview Golf Course in Kaneohe. It rained off an on all the way, but luckily when we got there it wasn't raining on that side of the island. We decided we were only doing 9 holes, as it was getting later in the morning, and lunch was to be eaten ;) as Lola would be hungry. It was mostly par 3's with a few par 4's. Hole 5 was disconnected from the rest of the course by a bridge that was no longer there, just approaches, so instead of 5 we played hole 10 before heading back to the club house.
After our 9 holes we packed our clubs up and headed upstairs for lunch at the "club house". We at at Jolene's By the Bay and was a mix of hawaiian and Japanese food. Lola had the Smoked Brisket Moco (without the gravy), and AA had a Brisket sandwich. The food was so good, the brisket super tender, and AA enjoyed the in house bun for his sandwich.
After lunch we headed to the Byodo-In Temple a short drive north from Kaneohe. It was pretty busy so we parked on the road and walked in. The guy in the payment booth told us we didn't need to pay and off we went. We had been here in 2010, but since then we have been to Japan, and it just wasn't as impressive this time. We walked around, Lola donged the bell, and we made our way back to the car.
Then it was off to the Dole Plantation, as Lola wanted a treat! It was about a 30 minute drive into the central portion of the island closer to the north shore. It was worth the drive, the dole whip was so good, even AA enjoyed it. We walked around the free section of the plantation looking at some of the tiny pineapples growing while we ate our dole whip in a cup and a dole whip float (dole whip with pineapple juice).
After the dole plantation we headed to the north shore, unsure of where to really go, AA put in a beach, once we got there, the parking lot was full and the road was very busy, so we turned around and headed to Haleiwa, the historic north shore town. Lola wanted to go to Haleiwa Joes for supper while we were there. It didn't open till 4:30, so we walked around a little, watching high school canoe club practice on the river that went into the ocean. This is the location that Lola, AA and MBMell went paddle boarding for the first time (in 2016). As it got closer to 4:30 there was a line outside of the restaurant to get in... so we joined just as they were letting people in before 4:30. AA wasn't very hungry but he was a good sport and had a wedge salad. Lola ordered Steamed Mahi Mahi. Not the best fish (as they rushed to cook a second one as they put gluten full soy sauce all over my first order.
The view was nice, and people wanted to sit outside that is why they rushed to the door at 4:30. There was a mouse under one of the tables eating a dinner roll that someone dropped. This wasn't the best meal we had at this place, but will likely try it again sometime.
Back to the car we headed back to the hotel to make it for some drinks, evening cocktail hour. We had about an hour and AA made the most of it. He had 4 mai tai's and was feeling it by the end. Lola had a virgin Rum Punch and a Pineapple and Cranberry juice. The snacks were raw zucchini, celery and pretzels and goldfish, so AA enjoyed the salty snacks while Lola didn't.
We headed back to the hotel room just after 7:30 (when the bar closed), and watched some tv, and went to bed.
Lola.
