Eric Turns 40 - San Diego 2024 - Jan 20 2024 (Old Town, Coronado and Seaport)

Today was a much slower day and a little rainy.

We headed to Old Town, where you enter a world where you feel like you go back in time.  There are old buildings, museums and shops.  We had lunch Casa de Reyes right in the center of the market.  The food was really good mexican food. Lola, AA and J even tried to eat the spicy pepper on their plates, only AA was successful at eating the whole thing.

We did get moved from the "patio" to the sheltered area just before the rain rolled in.  Luckily AA and E went and got our rain jackets from the car, before we finished lunch.

We walked around a little more, stopping at the candy shop before heading back to the house.

Since it was raining we had naps before heading back out to explore. We went to Coronado where we headed to see the historic hotel and walk along the beach. We searched for cool rocks and AA found sand dollars, which were so cool.

The waves were still pretty high, and we made it out of the beach area back onto the board walk just in time before the waves almost got us all wet.

Back in the van we headed back to Seaport to do a little shopping before dinner.

We got a few things before going to Eddie V's for dinner.  E had put in his spreadsheet dress code, but this was the fanciest restaurant we went to, and we all didn't dress up that much, and had our rain jackets on because of the rain.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal and E got his last "birthday" dessert.

Back at the house we played some video games, and then kids went to bed, and the adults went into the hot tub and played more video games.

It was a much needed slower day, and helped rest our tired feet.

Eric Turns 40 - San Diego 2024 - Jan 19 2024 (Legoland)

 Today we headed to Legoland.

The day was full of lego, rides, and food.  We spent the whole day there, just enjoying the sites, sounds and screams of the kids.

We successfully saw the entire park, and everyone went home happy, and some of us with lego!

Highlights include:

- taking everyone on the "biggest" roller coaster at the park, where I think only Lola, AA and J enjoyed it.

- Going on the submarine 2 times and becoming experts finding the items

- Eating texas bbq in california

- watching the kids drive at driving school

- Checking out all the lego cities, and talking about the places we had been.

We headed back to the house, where the kids couldn't wait for their parents to go out for dinner, while we stayed at the house.  We had a chicken dinner and played video games. They had such a good time.

E and J went for sushi, and came back as the kids were just falling asleep.  So went out to the hot tub, and played some video games for the rest of the evening until bed time.
