Lola travels to Texas - Day 2

We had a great adventure day, in Waco Texas. We ate breakfast, and headed out on the road (just the 4 of us) as DD had a big day at work, with his Manitoba co-workers.  The kids were trying to be quiet and tip toe around while Graeme was trying to sleep on the couch.

Brown Puppies were eating too!

We headed in the Tesla to Waco.  The drive took us some time as there was a major car accident (looked like something exploded on the side of the interstate and started the bank on fire).  Luckily I convinced MbMell, to pull over into the service road, and that got us moving a little faster and by passing the traffic jam on the main road.  We made it past and about 30 minutes from Waco, T wouldn't stop asking how far we were, and if we were ever going to make it.  Good thing that MbMell packed some snacks!

the traffic jam!

We made it to Magnolia Silos (Chip and Joanna's piece of Waco, https://magnolia.com/about/).  Since MbMell has been there 2 times previously, Lola started watching Fixer Upper to see what these people were all about.  She even watched where they did the bakery, so that she got the whole experience.  We hadn't talked about going, but MBMell knew that it would be a place Lola was now interested in and suggested it.  We played in the "turfed" area, went to the bakery, ate lunch, watched the robot owl, shopped in Magnolia Market, and went to the garden. It was a cool environment.  The sweet tea and food was so good!  The Twinkies and MBMell Loved the cupcakes and cookies!

After the Silos we headed to the Cameron Park Zoo. We put sunscreen on and off we went. The zoo was great, and I took videos of most of the animals.  B also requested a photo with most of the statues throughout the zoo.  Highlights include, the Giraffe's, Elephants and Hippos in the African Savanah, River otters with slide, and the Orangutan's.  It was hot, but we stayed well hydrated, and had a nice chat with the cafe lady at the end, while we cooled off and had a good drink.

The lady was very nice in the cafe, listened to all the stories of the zoo!

The twinkies had a snack on the way back.  B fell asleep while eating.

The drive back was pretty uneventful, the twinkies slept and the ladies chatted.  We also ordered sushi on the way (Lola grew adult pants and ordered, we missed AA).  We picked it up on our way to the house.  We watched some animal videos and then ate supper. It sure was good.

Bath time was had (not the best moment of the day). and kids went to bed.  T fell asleep relatively quick, and it is currently 10:45pm, and B just came out again.  MBMell and I are ready to go to  sleep, but B sure doesn't want to go to bed.  I think finally she is sleeping! They have been in their rooms since 8pm, but during this time, B has come out complaining she can't tuck herself back in, caught reading books in the hallway (we thought we heard things a couple of times but couldn't figure it out), moving all contents of her bed into the corner of the room (45 minutes) to find out that her soft friends "didn't care for it", and assistance was required to put her things back, and this all was happening while the monitor with sound is one right between us.

We have an adventure planned for tomorrow, hopefully DD is in a decent mood, as he is out having a great time this evening with his coworkers.   We will see what time we can get out of the house tomorrow.

Hope you have a great long weekend!

Lola.

Lola travels to Texas - Day 1

AA was very nice to get up at 4:45 this morning and drive Lola to the airport.  This is another solo trip over labour Day weekend to visit my Friends. (kind of a tradition if you have done it 2 years in a row).

This was supposed to be a picture of AA taking me to the airport, but I am not sure what it is.

Checked my bag, made it through customs (where the agent asked me if I had any gifts... well a jar of peanut butter). He laughed and on my way I went.  Took the standard photo with the moose, walked around the small 3 gates many times, went to the washroom, then boarded the plane.  The flight was uneventful.

In Minneapolis I got off the plane, to notice that I was getting right back on the same plane at the same gate 1 hour later.  I walked around the airport, checked out the many cool stores, bought a snack and then headed back to the gate.  Boarded the plane to see that there were 18 empty seats, and one of them was between me and the other girl in our row!  Jackpot, more room for me.  The flight had lots of turbulence over Kansas City, not my favourite thing, so I put on a movie, closed my eyes and tried to sleep, to relax the nerves.  I guess it worked because I feel asleep and woke up with 19 minutes left on the flight, and missed drink service.

As we were all waiting to get off the flight, I heard the flight attendant give the guy behind me a hard time.  I guess he was freaking right out, and she gave him a set of wings for his bravery.  The guy was almost crying he was so scared.  It was a rough ride, but I have been on worse.

Once off the plane, I collected my bag and headed to spot G outside to wait for my ride to pick me up.  I don't know who was the most excited to see me.... but maybe the one that wouldn't stop talking....

I was sure excited to see them.  It feels like it has been forever, June is forever.  The twinkies were happy to learn that I had not forgotten the brown puppies.  AA and Lola have 2 stuffed dogs that they love to play with at our place.  I told them a few months ago, that if they were good, the brown puppies would come for a ride.  Good thing I remembered this morning to slip them in my suitcase.  They were sure excited that they have come for a visit.  The brown puppies have been doing everything since they got out of my bag.  Helping clean up, watching tv, reading books, and having a sleepover.

We headed to one of my favourite restaurants, Shake Shack, and enjoyed some ping pong while waiting for our food.  We all enjoyed our meals. My double burger on an actually Gwen Friendly bun was amazing.  The kids really enjoyed the chocolate milkshakes.

Once lunch was completed, we headed to for hair cuts.  The twinkies were very well behaved, and got great hair cuts!

Headed to the house, to play, read books, do puzzles, play with magnets, try and nap, chat, eat supper and of course "baby Shark" and paw patrol.  We had a very full afternoon/evening of play.  Thankfully the twinkies actually went to bed with no troubles... maybe the brown puppies had something do with it... or just missing nap, who knows.

This evening DD and his 2 coworkers came home, we chatted a little with them, but MBMell and I mainly did the dishes and caught up on everything, also making plans for tomorrow.

I should really get to sleep, as it is going to be an early morning tomorrow, and we are going on a Texas adventure tomorrow.

Good Night, Lola.
