Tucson - day 5 (and journey home)

After a good sleep we got up said our good bye to Katie and headed to south Tucsonto the Pima air and space museum. AA has been there many times before but Lola hasn't. Aa really wanted to go, Lola just wanted to go shopping, so we arranged to get it all done in one day to make us both happy.

First stop along the way was to go coffee and tea, Lola's was way too hot to drink so only got a few sips in before we arrived at our destination but AA had polished it off by the time we got there.

The museum was full of a variety of planes, AA loves the world war 2 planes, Lola loves the small planes and commercial aircraft. AA was also excited as there was a new hanger since the last time he has been there as well as they have the Dreamliner there. Lola really enjoyed walking around the planes outside the hangers, in the warm Arizona sun!  There were a variety of shapes, sizes and even some planes turned into a large canvas. There is a small building with space stuff. Inside the building there is a piece of moon rock. The volunteer there told us where he was stationed in Vietnam for the war when the man landed on the moon. It was a good morning of getting lots of steps and enjoying the sun!

Next stop lunch, reliable Denny's as Lola's stomach still wasn't 100%. Then back to Pheonix for some shopping and then head to the airport.

2 destinations for shopping were arranged, the Pheonix Premimum Oulets to find some work clothes, and then to the Chandler Mall for some athletic wear. We were successful at both locations and Lola was happy not only to get a few new items but AA got some me clothes too!

From there we headed to return the car, but first for some gas. As Adam was filling up with gas he was entertained at the pump with commercials while at the pump.  

Off to the rental car return, as we were waiting for the bus to take is to the terminal, we noticed the super moon, it was beautiful coming over the mountain top. 

We grab a bite to eat and then onto the plane, it was an pretty uneventful flight, but much fuller than the flight there, and definitely an older demographic. We arrived home must after midnight and wow is it cold.

Tucson - day 4

Well Jason went to work this morning and the rest of us headed out in the jeep to explore Tucson. First stop dry cleaners to make a drop off, then to frys to get Lola and AA food for a picnic lunch, then off to drop of Riley at grandma and grandpas. 

Then off we went up Redington Pass. 

It was a journey from one side of the mountain to the other. On the way we hiked a couple of place, stopped at the washroom, stopped at the non washroom for Kaitie, ate a picnic lunch, saw some Cattle. The ride was rough in the jeep but we had a great time. The last leg of the journey was long, but we survived! The terrain changed as we fravelled to different elevations and sides of the mountains, lot s of cacti mid range, grasses near the top and yellow trees in the basins, we even saw some water in the desert. The temperature was beatiful for the activities we did. Lola even drove the jeep part of the way back as Katie had been driving most of the day. It turns out Aa had a nap in the back as well..  Those sunglasses sure hide a lot. 

Arriving back at Katie's parents ranch for a stroll to see the horses, and some evening news. Jason met us there after work and we had a great meal.  dave smoked a wonderful brisket, and Sandra prepared perogies for the great dinner, they love to talk about Winnipeg to us as that is where Sandra grew up and dave lived for a few years before heading down to southern states where they had Katie.  We talked and enjoyed eachothers company before heading back to Jason and Katie's. This time it was AAs turn to drive but we took the Ford Edge and Jason took the jeep back home. When we got back we packed up our stuff, to get ready to venture home to the cold. Jason was busy working but turned in classic home alone for us to enjoy. The music at the Intro began to play and got the three of us comfy on the couch while Jason worked at the dinning room table, laughing at the good jokes of the movie.  We had a great day,

Tucson - day 3

The day started with a relaxing morning out on the deck, Lola ate some breakfast and we all enjoyed the morning sun. Lola still wasn't feeling 100% so a relaxing morning was a good choice. Jason was on a call when we got up, and at the end it was up in the air if he had to travel for work that day. Good think we are used to the aviation business.  It was still undetermined by the time it was noon, so Katie, AA and Lola headed just down the road to the Bisbee Breakfast Club. It was a gas station removed into a resturant. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was pretty neat.

By the time we finished up lunch, we headed back to the house Jason found out that he didn't have to travel that day so we packed up and headed on a road trip to Tombstone. Oh and Jason dressed the part with his cowboy attire, Spurs, hat and coat! An old mining town in the wild Wild West. About 1.5 hour car ride with Jason and Lola signing away in the front while Katie and AA sat quitly in the back. Lola sat in the front as she still wasn't feeling that well. The town had lots of neat shops, where Lola spent most of her American money. Our last stop was to head to the saloon for a drink and some food for Lola. The hamburger she had was delcouis! The saloon was rustic and very neat to see, it had lots of the stain glass ladies and signs with memorabilia and photos all over the walls. 

A dark drive back to Tucson to make a quick stop at the house to get some people some warmer clothing before heading out to Winterhaven. A community that puts up Christmas lights and thousands of people tour through each year. It was neat to be able to walk through the streets and see all the sights, and not be a frozen Popsicle. Much better than driving in your car, fogging up the windows and still being cold while looking at displays out the window. It was about an 1.5 hour walk around to see all the Christmas lights, lots of effort put into the decorating and themes of home decorations. 

We headed back to the house for a late night snack, the boys changed the tire in the jeep and then to bed. It was a fun filled day and beautiful weather.
